Today is the release of the remake or reboot or new version or whatever of Conan the Barbarian. Looks terrible, looks like yet another movie that just doesn’t get how awesome Robert E. Howard’s original creation is, and how cool a movie truly based on some original Howard material could be.
The 1982 Conan film was like that, too, but I still like it an awful lot. It’s not Howard’s Conan, but it’s a thoroughly entertaining swords-and-sandals fantasy epic. With Conan on the mind, I present an illustration of the most memorable quote from the Ex-Governor of California’s turn as the Cimmerian Barbarian:
